Hard Work & Prayers!

Date: Tue, Jan 26, 2010

What's going on here? Well yesterday was zone conference so that was really neat. We are going to do a really big baptism meeting on the 5th of Feb so that should be really cool. We're combining with 2 other companionships and we're hoping these people will be baptized that day:

Westly, he is 12 he has come to church all by him self twice now and he's really interested,
Lucas, he's 10. His mom has started investigating the church but she has some problems that we're still working on but we're going to baptize Lucas so at the very least someone will be there to help him,
Mirdin, she is about 49. We marked her baptism for the other week but because of her work it fell through. Her family will end up following her into the water just not now.
Maybe Betres, her 10 year old daughter will happen with her.
Vagner, 35, Vergina, 34 and their 2 kids (our family of gold. Really, sometimes God just decides you need a blessing and after you pray alot he drops a family like this in your lap. They're perfect. They already know about the Church. He has a friend that is a bishop where the used to live but they have never taken the lessons so were just teaching them. They are so awesome.)

Thank you guys so much for the pkg. My comp is loving all the marshmallows, and reeses and every thing. Its like an exciting new toy for him since he has never eaten most of the stuff you send.

Now I know that I'm getting transferred next transfer president told me in my interview so around the 23 of Feb I'll be going somewhere else which is ok. 7 months in my first area is a long time.

Well that's about it. Love you all,

Elder Michael Millyard

six months of service

OK, awesome! First things first, baptisms! These last 2 weeks we baptized 5 people. Mateus, he is 9 years old and belongs to an inactive family that we have been reactivating. He's really awesome. It was really him that decided that they should be active again and he's the one that started talking about baptism. Next, Apartecida, she is 83 years old and from São Palo. She is living with her niece who is a very active member so basicly we just started going over there and taught them and of course she felt the spirit. We taught her and 3 of Nilzas (the member) grandchilden and baptized them all. It was really cool.
The curly haired baby - Rayda ( hida ), her parents are Fernando and Fabiola. I baptized them. I think you have photos of them all together.

Second, the 26th of November! woo hoo! We didn't do anything for Thanksgiving and I didn't do anything for my 6th month mark but it was a good day. I ate more than normal just by chance one of the members was making pan pizza so we got some too. It was pretty good.

So today is the first day of the new transfer. I'm with Elder Leite again and staying in Fatima so that's good. I was thinking I was going to leave but I get to stay for the holidays.

Hey, I still haven't gotten my other memory cards yet they must be in the mail and I got mom a birthday/christmas card. I'm going to send them to her but it will probably take a awhile to get there.
Sounds like Mom still has a soft spot for dogs after all or maybe dad has the soft spot, haha, as for me and dogs we're not really friends anymore and I have the scar to prove it, haha.
I'm going to still try and make some more videos for you guys.
K well, love you all, tell the kids I love them,

Elder Millyard

Sounds like you are all doing well. It was cool to get a letter from John. I don't really know what kinds of martial arts they practice here. I think mostly it is this kinda dance thing but I have never actually seen it. Umm, what else? I got the package that Jen sent with the super glue and sprees (didn't you send that to the mtc?) Thanks! I didn't get the other one with my card in it though.

I had some dental work done. I had 2 cavities that were just starting. One that didn't hurt really before. It was a cavity that had already been filled but they said that it needed to be done again cuz it was starting to rott again so they re did it and now it hurts, haha.

Ruth's baptism fell through. We still don't know what happened. . . who is Fernando . . . I'll send a video when I get my other card and introduce you guys to everyone.

. . . this last week has been great we were talking to lots of people last Friday, I think. It was when we were walking back from a referral we gotten from some other elders (they didn't have time right then but we made the appointment) and so this guy started yelling "followers of Joseph Smith, followers of Joseph Smith" and called us over. We were kinda like, O great he's crazy yelling at us from a cross the road but he wasn't. He had heard about the church before and wanted the "Finding Faith in Christ" video and to know what kinda food was bad to eat and he had some questions about our spirits. Then he said that he wanted to learn more cuz all the other churches only had 50% of the truth so we were kinda awh struck at all this and said, OK we can teach you about all that and about the other 50% they don't have and we can come to your house and bless your family and give you that dvd. We gave him some pamplets and set up an appointment and told to read the pamplets then we left. I was thinking why didn't we teach him now but the more I thought about it the more it seems the Lord gave him to us to teach but he needs to read and learn a little more for some reason. The time wasn't right, right then. So ya, I'm pretty exciteded to go teach him this next week . . . Yay! Hurrah, for Israel!

Love you,

November 5 - Elder Leite

Hey, what’s up? Sorry its been so long in between letters, haha. (Did you start to miss me Jen? ) How’s everyone doing? I’m good. I got a new comp named Elder Leite Or Elder Milk in English. He is from Sao Paulo. He likes to skate board and bike. He is pretty cool. We get along pretty well. Last night we laid all the extra mattresses in our house down and wrestled (his idea not mine). He was ready to be done after 3 min but I made him go for another 3, haha. He’s pretty small. He is only about 135 lbs and I’m almost 170 now. So I don’t know why he wanted to wrestle in the first place but it was fun. Let’s see what else, this week we are baptizing Ruth (Hooch). She is Fernando’s sister (almost wrote sister of Fernando, haha, that’s how you would say it in Portuguese. That’s sad that I’m getting them mixed up already cuz I can bearly speak still). She is way cool. I hope I told you about Fernando already... there are 2 - one that we married. Wow, this doesn’t make that much sense. I hope you understand. There are all kinds of people I need to tell you about. Hurry and send me my other card back and I’ll make a video with all the people. So you guys can know who I’m talking about. I think the turn around time on you guys having my card should be less than a week. Well, I don’t know what else to say. I’ll write a real letter and send it sometime soon.

Love you,
Elder Millyard

Kaelee loves school now? When did that happen? Last I remember she was sitting at the table crying cuz she wouldn't just do it! haha That's awesome! They're getting awards for their hard work. Tell them to keep it up. Sounds like everyone is having fun!

Love,
Elder Millyard

P.S. No marsh mellows in Brasil. There is some candy with it but I don't think you can just buy it.
